The family tree is everyone’s heart during the holidays. I love seeing all the different ways people decorate their family tree… everyone has their own way of approaching their holiday tree, whether it be filled with handmade ornaments from their kids or decked out in a theme.
By now, you’ve probably realized that I don’t pass up an opportunity to be extra. This past Christmas, I decided to revamp our family tree. The outcome was this gorgeous palette of earth tones with pops of dark red, bronze and gold.

Most of the ornaments and picks I purchased over time: Big Lots, Michaels and Walmart are my go to places. And my favorite element was (of course) the deco mesh! This burlap deco mesh was easy to work with and completely transformed the look of the tree. I also splurged on getting a few more wooden signs to use as ornaments and it tied together so well.
Another big change was creating clusters for my traditional ornaments balls. I used pipe cleaners to tie together 3-4 different size ornament balls and then tied them onto the tree using the remaining pipe cleaner. It made a huge difference in the overall look!
This tree also looked great in the daytime, just as much as it did in the evening when lit. One of the hardest parts for me with decorating our holiday trees is giving it a look that doesn’t revolve around the lights being on. Making the tree full with ornaments, ribbons, deco mesh, etc. can help it look gorgeous at any time of the day. This country glam look is a winner for me…
